Senior Secondary - Victorian Pathways Certificate

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an accredited foundation-level secondary qualification aligned with Level 1 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). It is designed for students in Years 11 and 12 who would benefit from a more accessible Senior Secondary program. The curriculum provides learning based on applied learning principles and serves as a practical pathway into further education, employment and training. The VPC is designed to engage students through applied learning and provide flexibility to meet an individual’s learning needs.

The VPC aims to:

  • Equip students with the skills, knowledge, values and capabilities to be active and informed citizens, lifelong learners and confident and creative individuals
  • Empower students to make informed decisions about their post-school pathways
  • Provide students with the best opportunity to achieve their personal goals and aspirations in a rapidly changing world.

Eligibility for the Award of the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)

A student is awarded the VPC when they have satisfactorily completed a combination of units that meet the VPC minimum requirement. A VPC unit is satisfactorily completed once all the modules within that unit have been completed. Satisfactory completion of a module is based on school-based assessments demonstrating achievement of the Learning Goals specified in the modules of each unit. Schools report a student’s result for each module to the VCAA as S (satisfactory) or N (not yet complete).
