Supporting students through change is an important part of our school program. At the end of each year, all students participate in a structured transition program designed to build confidence and prepare them for the year ahead. Students are supported through a range of transition activities, including classroom visits, opportunities to spend time with their new teacher and classmates and strategies that are tailored to their individual needs. These experiences help students become familiar with new routines, expectations and learning environments.
For our Grade 6 students, the transition program provides an opportunity to prepare for the move from Primary to Secondary School in a familiar and supportive environment. As our Secondary School is located just across the courtyard, students are able to participate in transition activities that build confidence, independence and familiarity with their new surroundings. Students have opportunities to visit the Secondary School, meet staff, become familiar with new routines and begin developing connections with their future teachers and classmates. The school community celebrates this important milestone with a Grade 6 Graduation, recognising students' achievements and marking the completion of their primary school journey.
