Support Programs

Student Wellbeing
The Student Wellbeing Support Teacher assists students in the area of social and emotional development.  She works with students, parents, teachers and other professionals in developing strategies to address concerns and solve problems.

Speech Pathology 

The speech pathologists work with students and assist teachers within the classroom setting with a focus on developing each student’s communication skills. Students may be referred for assessment on a needs basis. Some students access augmentative and alternative communication as required.

Counselling Services 
Ashwood School offers access to the services of DET Educational Psychologist and Social Worker for assessment and counselling.

Social Club
Samarinda runs a Social Club which is uniquely tailored to suit the needs and interests of children with a mild intellectual disability. The programs offer a wide variety of activities designed to promote creativity, physical health and relationships, within a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.  Registration with Samarinda is a requirement to access these programs.  More information about the Social Club is available at the School Office.
