Secondary Department
Students in the Secondary Department are aged from 13 to 15 years. Teachers and students work together to develop skills of initiative, independence and a sense of pride and purpose. The school encourages students to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and a growth in social and emotional maturity.
The Secondary Department curriculum follows the Victorian Curriculum and offers a broad range of age appropriate programs to cater for the individual needs of our students.
The following activities and experiences are emphasised:
Literacy and Numeracy skills
Language/Communication skills
Social skills
Personal development
Fitness program
Excursions
Awards Victoria (incorporating Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme), including Outdoor Education and Recreation skills
Many students enter Ashwood School at the Secondary level and much care is taken to develop friendships, responsibility and confidence through the outdoor education and camping program, House system, elective activities and assemblies.
