Primary School

CO-ORDINATOR
Mrs. Sue Bourke

Small groups, highly skilled and experienced teachers, and specialist teaching staff all combine to make the primary school a place where students can learn in a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Students range in age from 5-12 years and class sizes are on average (for younger classes) around 6-8, with groups formed according to age, academic skills, social competence and physical maturity. Each child will have individual program goals agreed at meetings with parents. School support staff, teacher aides, a psychologist, speech therapist and social worker are available to support teachers as the need arises. As the whole school is networked, primary school students are also able to enjoy learning "on the Internet".

Ashwood School is proud of its ‘early years literacy program’ which has as its resource, trained and interested volunteers and parents to hear reading.
